Feel Better With TMJ Therapy

You probably don't pay much attention to your TMJs - unless they become irritated and inflamed. In this case, your jaw joints can cause you a great deal of discomfort. Simple activities such as talking, laughing, and eating can make you wince in pain.

You're taking the first step toward relief from TMJ disorder by seeking treatment at Skyview Dental. Our comprehensive TMJ therapy uses the latest techniques and technology to address your specific symptoms and needs. Two of our most effective therapies include:

  • Custom TMJ Oral Appliances - These comfortable mouthguards gently reposition your jaw into better alignment. By reducing pressure on your TMJs, they can alleviate teeth grinding, jaw clenching, and painful muscle spasms. We customize each appliance for a precise fit.
  • Botox Treatment - Strategically administered Botox injections help relax the overactive muscles that contribute to TMJ pain, limiting their movement. This minimally invasive approach provides relief for several months before retreatment is needed.

Dr. Calvin Despain is certified with the American Academy of Facial Esthetics (AAFE). You can trust that you will receive the best results from Botox treatment if it's the right solution for your TMJ needs. Your dentist can even incorporate this solution into your checkups.

Spot the Signs of a TMJ Disorder

If you are dealing with a TMJ disorder, you may notice symptoms, such as:

  • Popping sounds when you open your mouth or chew food
  • Jaw pain when you wake up in the morning
  • Muscle aches around your neck and shoulders
  • Sensitive teeth due to grinding or clenching causing cracks or chips

Let our skilled team develop personalized Moses Lake TMJ treatment to give you relief.

I wasn’t raised with the best dental hygiene, and over the years I’ve had just about every bad dental experience you can imagine. I’ve always related to the saying, “what can go wrong, will go wrong” when it came to dentist visits. My mouth isn’t in the best shape, and I have extremely high dental anxiety — to the point that I’ve actually passed out many times during procedurs. Because of that, it’s been really hard to keep up with or even try to fix the mess I felt stuck with. Recently, a tooth that was already broken lost another corner, leaving me with basically half a tooth. While waiting for that appointment, a cavity on the other side of my mouth popped out, again what can go wrong will go wrong.I was terrified about the upcoming procedure because putting me under usually costs too much — and that’s the only way I’ve ever been able to get through treatment. But the oral sedation they used was amazing. For the first time ever, I felt like I was actually part of my dental care without being fully aware of every detail. The team was kind, gentle, and patient. I got same-day crowns that look fantastic, and when I see them, I actually want to smile. For someone like me, who’s always dreaded the dentist, this was honestly the best experience I’ve ever had. I finally have hope for my future dental health, and I’m so grateful to this team for giving me that.

Had an over all great experience. I believed I had an abscess by my wisdom teeth and it was fairly painful. Skyview Dental got me in the next day. I got both wisdom teeth removed and it was quick and extremely painless.

Commonly Asked Questions About TMJ Treatment/Teeth Grinding

Does TMJ treatment work?
Yes, our TMJ treatment has been able to help many patients over the years relieve their pain for good. No matter which type of treatment you receive, the team here at Skyview Dental will make sure it's the right one for you. Besides you, no one wants your treatment to be successful more than we do.
How long does TMJ treatment take?
The length of your TMJ treatment will depend on the treatment method you require. Some patients respond well to Botox® treatment, which requires only 10 minutes to administer. Other patients need to wear a night guard or splint while sleeping to eliminate their TMJ pain.
Will insurance pay for my TMJ treatment?
This varies depending on your insurance policy. TMJ disorders are a health issue that should be treated, and our team will do our part to make sure you get the full benefits covered by your dental plan. Ask us about flexible payment options, including zero- and no-interest financing from third parties like CareCredit, that can help you manage the cost of your care.
